Projects

In addition to our other activities, we get involved in a series of projects – and are always happy to discuss opportunities for more!

Murmuration – taking the legacy of the Waterline project forwards through another international collaborative project, with twelve weavers from the UK, the Netherlands, the USA and Canada working together to capture the beauty of murmuration. Each one of us is weaving our own tapestry to be part of a coherent whole which will be shaped to bring to mind the flow of a murmuration. We are working remotely, creating our design collaboratively, and together we will make an innovative installation to be exhibited initially as part of Shetland Wool Week in September 2024.

Waterline – an international collaborative project led by Joan Baxter, supported by Anna and Irene. Fifteen tapestries were woven by tapestry weavers from the UK, Ireland, United States, Canada and the Netherlands, all working on the theme of the flow of a river and linked by a common silvery golden line woven into each tapestry. Each weaver also worked with their neighbours so that the tapestries work together as a whole, as well as maintaining their individuality. A publication was produced that describes the project as well as each individual tapestry, and the tapestries were first exhibited at Farfield Mill, Cumbria, UK, in Autumn 2022, followed by exhibitions in Gairloch, North West Scotland, Summer 2023, and Shetland, as part of Shetland Wool Week 2023.

Nature Celebration Llanymynech – a project led by Irene, involving her local community, creating a series of weavings celebrating the nature of Llanymynech and displayed in the local community.

Irene also led on an outdoor project during the Summer of 2022, capturing the local history and surroundings at the Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park and woven using fleece from local sheep.
